Altrusa – Leading to a Better Community®
Whether you’re looking to meet new friends, volunteer with people
who are helping shape our community, or to share and advance your talents and
skills, becoming an Altrusan is a great way to add a
meaningful new experience to your life.
As members of Altrusa International of Atlanta, Inc., we make our
community better through leadership, partnership and service. With a focus on literacy and other local
needs, Altrusans from 12 countries give more than 1 million volunteer
hours annually. But in the Atlanta and Sandy Springs area, we’re best known for
our ongoing participation in the USA Weekend Make a Difference Day, teaching
children the joying of reading and fun with storytelling, and supporting local
causes like the Community Assistance Center and AID Atlanta. But we have dozens
of inspiring, rewarding and flexible ways for you to get involved. To find out
more, feel free to check out our website, attend one of our monthly meetings or join us for an upcoming event.
Monthly Letter from the President
“Hurricane season brings a humbling reminder that, despite our technologies, most of nature remains unpredictable.” ~ Diane Ackerman
It has truly been an awesome display of Mother Nature this week, from our own Georgia coast, up and down the District from Florida to North Carolina. Start with our own Caryn Arrowood’s family in Melbourne, Florida to our Altrusa sisters and brothers in North Carolina, Matthew covered a lot of distance and a lot of concern. We are grateful that so many prayers for safety and security have been answered, and once again that we are able to care about and worry for our friends that we meet through this organization. The community that we care for is often larger than the immediate community we often think of.
And welcome to Autumn in Atlanta. So glad for cooler days!
Upcoming! Planning is in progress for a literacy evening with the Sandy Springs Education Force. Stay Tuned!
