About Altrusa International, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia – As part of the Altrusa International organization which strives to make our communities better through leadership, partnership and service, the Atlanta, Georgia club was charted on March 29, 1944. The club is part of District Three, which consists of clubs in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina. Through the club, members do incredible work as mentors, teachers, fundraisers and often as friends – the one thing that people need the most. The people helped by the Atlanta club are not passive recipients of money or services, but are individuals and families working hard to help themselves. It is the adult that learns to read, the child who is given the opportunity to fully experience childhood, and the lonely person who finds a friend. Those are the successes we celebrate.
